Az 5ep is a
five-part online series,
filmed every two weeks
in front of a live audience.
About the Play
5EP is a five-part, interconnected total-art experiment that deconstructs the boundaries between theatrical presence and cinematic narrative. The series is structured around five live events, each lasting 45–60 minutes, offering a glimpse into the process of real-time creation where cameras, monitors, and live editing are not hidden background tasks but fundamental aesthetic elements of the dramaturgy.
Every episode is preceded by two weeks of intensive research and rehearsals. The cycle's focal points are Fridays and Saturdays, when the production comes to life in front of a live audience through a simultaneous stream. In this space, the viewer is not merely an observer but an integral part of the set. The duality of the spectator's experience arises from the simultaneous view of the finished material on monitors and the "behind-the-scenes" technical machinery.
Each narrative arc concludes with a performance by a guest musician or band, reflecting on the episode while embedded in the atmosphere of the set. The live broadcasts (LIVE) are publicly available for 48 hours following the premiere before being moved to the project's private digital archive. Between events, supplementary content—such as professional discussions and pre-recorded "guest scenes" — becomes available on the production's digital platforms, serving as raw material for the upcoming live broadcasts.
5EP viewers can follow the entire process from start to finish. In this context, the role of the audience is elevated: they become witnesses to the unrepeatable, live moment, and through their presence as extras or participants in micro-interactions, they become shapers of the story itself. Upon completion of the full cycle, the recorded material is condensed into a final series of 30-minute episodes, preserving the most defining moments.
Pilot EPISODE // 5EP: CONTROL FREAK SHOW
During the pilot episode staged on the evening of the parliamentary elections, April 12, 2026 (5EP: Control Freak Show), we depicted the selection process of political representation in the TÁP Room of Jurányi House. In the event realized with the support of the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP), six ordinary people measured their aptitude against one another, while viewers — amidst election stress and uncertainty — could decide who was most suitable to lead the country, accompanied by live music. The project combined elements of gaming, reality, and tension, where every moment of the Citadella Show reality program was followed by cameras.
